PART-TIME MUSC INSTRUCTOR(s) – Potential Opportunities:

GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES: Courses intended for non-music majors in order to fulfill Arts & Humanities requirements in a variety of associates degrees and four-year programs. Offered either in-person on Lakeland’s Main Campus or online.

• MUSC 1200: Music Appreciation
• MUSC 1215: World Music
• MUSC 1800: Popular Music

GROUP MUSIC LESSONS: Group courses for beginning students wishing to have a first experience with instrument-specific instruction.

• MUSC 1000: Group Voice
• MUSC 1030 and MUSC 1130: Group Guitar I and II
• MUSC  1050 and MUSC 1150: Group Piano I and II

 

CORE MUSICIANSHIP SEQUENCE: Courses in music theory/aural skills and music history intended for students majoring in music. Part of the Associate of Arts—Music Pathway, and suitable for transfer to a four-year program.

• MUSC 1600, MUSC 1700, MUSC 2400, MUSC 2500: Music Theory I, II, III, and IV
• MUSC 2200 and 2250: Music History I and II

ENSEMBLES: Lakeland hosts five Civic Music ensembles available for college credit, meeting weekly and presenting 4-6 performances per academic year.

• MUSC 2730: Lakeland Civic Flute Choir
• MUSC 2750: Lakeland Civic Chorus
• MUSC 2850: Lakeland Civic Orchestra
• MUSC 2890: Lakeland Civic Band
• MUSC 2895: Lakeland Civic Jazz Orchestra

ELECTRONIC MUSIC: Lakeland offers a two-course sequence in electronic music in support of the Media Technology department and for generally interested students.

• MUSC 2650 and 2660: Electronic Music I and II

QUALIFICATIONS:   Master’s degree in Music is required; or a Master’s degree in a related field plus 18 graduate credit hours in Music; experience relevant to courses planning to be taught (see below) is also required.
