Lakeland Community College is accepting applications for an assistant coach for our women's basketball team, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II athletic program. Read more at: Women's Basketball Team
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the head coach and other coaches, assisting or leading as the occasion requires.
- Assist in daily practice.
- Assist in player support.
- Attend department meetings and functions as requested.
- Scout opponents and prepare scouting assignments as assigned.
- Assist in the recruitment of future squad members.
- Develop working relationships with all athletic department personnel.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education/Training and Experience Required/Preferred
- Professional preparation through previous coaching experience or college team preparation.
- Must have a working knowledge of all aspects of the sport and demonstrate interest in and an aptitude for performing the tasks.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
B. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the rules of the sport; basic equipment, methods and supplies; NJCAA code of conduct; safety methods and procedures.
- Skills in completed tasks as assigned under the direction of the coach.
- Abilities to learn and properly apply departmental policies/ procedures and association rules; motivate, coach, and model appearance and behavior; work independently; establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
C. Physical Activity Level
- Medium - Mostly standing, walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. frequently, 50 lbs. occasionally.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time, salaried position with pay distributed during the season (October - March). The starting annual salary is dependent upon experience with the maximum possible being $6,000.
