Part-time Staff: Bookstore Cashier
RESPONSIBILITIES: (Non-inclusive)
- Operate the POS cash register system and reconcile the cash drawer at the end of the day in accordance with existing college practices and standards.
- Assist customers by responding to inquiries; assist intermittent cashiers to maintain a smooth flow of customers through the store during peak periods.
- Keep the front end of the store neat and orderly; may place and receive candy, beverage, and sundry orders as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience/Training
- High school diploma and six months of cashiering experience required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills,and abilities is acceptable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of American currency; basic mathematics.
- Skills in following oral and written instructions, performing arithmetical calculations.
- Ability to operate POS cash register system and calculator; maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
Physical Activity Level
- Light - Sit sometimes, stand sometimes, lift up to 25 lbs.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- This is a part-time, continuing status staff position. The work schedule of up to 23 hours per week is as follows: Monday through Thursday from 11:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.
- Compensation for this position is at 03 on the Auxiliary Staff Salary Schedule. The minimum hourly rate for this position is $13/hour, with non-insurance benefits, including paid time away (vacation, personal, sick, and holiday pay) and prorated tuition.
