Part-time Faculty: Respiratory Therapy Substitute (2 courses, on-campus)

Lakeland Community College invites qualified candidates to submit their application to substitute teach one or two Respiratory Therapy courses during the Spring 2025 semester. Applicants may indicate on the application which courses(s) they are interested in teaching. The course delivery dates are January 11 – May 9, 2025; however, this position will only be responsible for course instruction from February 3 - March 31. 

  • RESP 1500 - Cardiopulmonary Pathology (3 units of load)

Course Description: This course serves as an introduction to respiratory diseases including etiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, treatment, and possible complications.

This course will be taught on Thursdays, 10 a.m. – 12:50 p.m. on campus.

  • RESP 2300 - Long Term Care and Rehabilitation (3 units of load for lecture; 2.67 units/lab; .50 units/clinical per student, maximum of 4 units)

Course Description: This specialized course applies respiratory care to long-term care and rehabilitation. The course discusses the role of the therapist outside the acute care setting. Students will apply current standards of practice to patient care.

The course lecture will be taught on Monday’s from 9 a.m. – 11:50 a.m., followed by the course lab from 12:30 – 3 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
  • Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and hold such professional license as required by the state of Ohio. 
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist; of which at least two (2) years must include experience in clinical respiratory care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program; either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor
  • Applicants interested in teaching a specialized area of Respiratory Care should have the corresponding specialty credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care. [i.e. Neonatal and Pediatric Specialist (NPS), Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT, RPFT), and Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS)]
