COMPENSATION & BENEFITS COORDINATOR
Job Summary:
The Compensation & Benefits Coordinator is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs including enrollment and administration, maintaining related records, coordinating vendor relations and claims resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure employees are accurately compensated according to their job duties and classification. Review and analyze the compensation structure to identify any areas where salary or benefit adjustments may be necessary.
- Monitor changes in labor laws and regulations to ensure that the organization remains compliant with applicable standards.
- Assist with new employee onboarding, including explaining the company's benefits package and assisting with benefit enrollment.
- Serve as liaison between college employees and insurance carriers investigating and resolving (where possible) claim problems, answering general benefits questions, and providing oral and written summary plan information; monitor and process insurance plan enrollments, changes, and terminations ensuring compliance with COBRA law and procedures; organize and maintain insurance information through the online benefits administration system, Benefitsolver.
- Confirm the enrollment and correct calculations for payment of the monthly invoice for the Lake County Schools Consortium.
- Attend the monthly meetings of the Lake County Schools Consortium and participate in the discussion process.
- Plan and coordinate events on campus such as the annual benefits fair, open enrollment, and wellness activities.
- Serve as liaison between college employees and workers’ compensation administration when needed to ensure a smooth transition back to work for injured employees.
- Respond to requests for Family and Medical Leave and other leaves of absence while staying in compliance with federal law and the college’s policies and procedures.
- Implement/communicate alternative retirement options; disseminate information about health-related topics including the employee assistance program and wellness activities.
- Work with other members of the Human Resources Department to develop and implement policies and procedures related to compensation and benefits.
- Serve as the coordinator of the Health Care Committee by setting up the quarterly meetings and providing clerical assistance.
- Prepare, manage, inventory, and facilitate the Service Awards program, including the Distinguished Service Awards and the Employee of the Semester award.
- Oversee the Staff Professional Development funds and coordinate Committee review/approval of application for funding.
- Provide general office support and customer service in support of the Human Resources Department, greeting visitors, etc.
- Utilize Banner (Learning Information System) to respond to inquiries and perform data input and reporting as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience/Training
- A minimum of an associate degree, preferably in Human Resources Management, and at least two years of human resources experience including benefits enrollment and administration, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Detail oriented
- Skilled in oral and written communications; cost-benefit analysis; basic statistics; researching and analyzing a variety of information.
- Ability to learn, explain, and apply appropriate federal and state regulations and college policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships at all levels within the organization; exercise judgment and make sound recommendations; meet objectives established in a timely, effective, and cost-efficient manner.
Conditions of Employment
- This is a full-time, continuing staff (non-exempt) position, at grade 7A of the staff salary schedule, with an anticipated hiring range of $21.65/hour - $24.27/hour.
- College work hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., on campus.
