NETWORK SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR:

General Description of Position:

Responsible for identifying needs, analyzing scope and objectives, then developing, implementing, testing and maintaining networked hardware, cloud and software systems and processes for campus services including network and cloud services for file, print and applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-inclusive):

  • Install, set up and maintain all servers and application software for Microsoft Windows server systems running in a VMWare virtualized environment with enterprise (SAN) Storage Area Networks.
  • Install, set up and maintain server hardware, cloud, operating system and application monitoring tools.
  • Diagnose, analyze and repair server hardware, operating systems, IIS Web Sites, SQL Server database and application software.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for supported hardware, software and cloud software systems, procedures, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide 24/7 system management and engineering support for various platforms and processes; proactively and reactively monitor, troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
  • Develop and troubleshoot complex integrated system solutions by working closely with peers in other disciplines, such as applications development, database administrators, pc operations and network support.
  • Develop, present, document and drive the implementation of internal and cross-functional integrated network solutions.
  • Keep current and make recommendations for new features and functionality of existing technologies; evaluate, understand, test and recommend new technologies, equipment, features, functionality and configurations.
  • Test and apply new software and maintenance patches for servers.
  • Actively participate in team discussions for the acquisition or replacement of hardware and application software or cloud resources for network operation.
  • Oversee the Office 365 Cloud Exchange Email environment; manage user accounts on Active Directory and Synchronization to Cloud Azure Systems, including email accounts and groups
  • Ensure compliance with all necessary laws and regulations; aggressively maintain currency of virus protection.
  • Perform scheduled backups of all servers.  Restore server operating system software, application software and/or data as needed.
  • Serve as back up for the Enterprise Administrator.
  • Maintain currency of skills and certification to keep pace with a changing environment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Training and Experience Required/Preferred:

    Bachelor’s degree in MIS or computer science or equivalent

    Three years of work experience configuring, installing and maintaining a large server mixed cloud network.

    Experience with PowerShell scripting and group policy preferred.

    Microsoft Certifications MCSA or MCSE preferred.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to effectively and efficiently organize time and resources to complete work accurately, thoroughly, on time.

    Aptitude to adjust work processes or methods to accommodate changes in work requirement.

    Abilities to work independently; meet deadlines; work under pressure; and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships.
