Part-time Staff: Bookstore Web Sales Coordinator

General Position Description:  The Bookstore web sales coordinator processes all online orders received by the Bookstore; maintains the Bookstore website; packs and ships UPS orders; works in all areas of Bookstore operation providing customer service; operates the cash register as needed; performs end of the day duties relative to closing the Bookstore.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-Inclusive):

  • Web Order Processing:
    • Maintain Bookstore website.
    • Process all online orders received by the Bookstore from order creation to shipment; report and correct technical issues found during processing within the Mail Order software or point-of-sale software.
    • Monitor supply usage and provide list of required items to be ordered.
  • Website Maintenance:
    • Update e-commerce and community web pages with general website, store info, policies and textbook ordering as necessary.
    • Update Lakeland’s posting management with Bookstore events/announcements as necessary.
    • Build and refresh online merchandise catalogs.
    • Photograph and edit product merchandise for website and social media use.
    • Contact support to maintain website functionality and initiate customizations to help make the ordering process and website navigation easier.
    • Work with textbook and general merchandise personnel for information on new items, in-store sales, and events that can be applied to the website.
  • Social Media and Print Communications: 
    • Serve as administrator on selected social media platforms to provide immediate information to customers, and receive feedback about services provided.
    • Research new social media platforms and determine their value to the Bookstore.
    • Create in-store signage to coincide with marketing’s style guide.
    • Maintain and implement marketing calendar; act as liaison between the Bookstore and Marketing Department.
    • Create training manuals as necessary (student employee, cashier, web orders).
    • Create supplemental collateral material for textbook sales (bookmark, rental sticker, CCP sticker, brochure, FAQ documents)
    • Maintain Bookstore general email.
  • Other: 
    • Perform end of day duties relative to closing the Bookstore.
    • Operate cash register as needed.
    • Assist with shelving textbooks, buyback, rental returns and CCP returns as needed; assist with physical inventory on or around last Friday of June.
    • Assist Bookstore customers with their purchases of books, electronics, and school supplies.
    • Assist customers with accessing electronic course materials.
    • Maintain cleanliness and order of counters and work areas.
    • Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training and Experience Required/Preferred

  • An Associate's degree in business, marketing, communications, graphics design or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in marketing, design and communications; knowledge of web design software preferred.
  • One year of work experience in retail/customer service preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Ability to use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Reader or PDF creation/viewing software, and Adobe Illustrator (or similar software).
  • Strong written communication skills for sharing information on a website and social media.
  • Skills in following oral and written instructions; performing mathematical calculations.
  • Abilities to operate standard office and accounting equipment; perform routine and detailed tasks in an accurate and efficient manner; maintain effective interpersonal working relationships; work independently.

Physical Activity Level:

  • Moderate - Sit sometimes, stand sometimes; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  

  • This is a part-time, continuing status staff position working 28 hours per week, including evenings and additional hours during peak periods. The current schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and Wednesday 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Compensation for this position is at 5A on the Staff Salary Schedule. The minimum hourly rate for this position is $13.75/hour, with non-insurance benefits, including paid time away (vacation, personal, sick and holiday pay) and prorated tuition.
