Human Resources Coordinator  

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for a variety of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training, compliance and reporting, continuous improvement projects as well as general office support. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Recruitment and Onboarding 

  • Using existing departmental recruitment processes, ensure staffing and hiring needs are anticipated, addressed and fulfilled.  

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify accurate job descriptions and maintain folders of current job descriptions for all employees.   

  • Utilize the applicant tracking system (Simplicant) to post positions and communicate with applicants. 

  • Advertise job openings to attract candidates using a variety of outlets including local, national and industry specific sources. 

  • Schedule and participate in interviews (as needed).   

  • Assist hiring committees to prepare for candidate selection, including developing interview questions, evaluation charts, etc.    

  • Conduct references, negotiate pay rates, and compose offer letters. 

  • Assist with new employee onboarding activities and processes including new employee orientation and new hire information folders, and communications to supervisors. 

  • Assist with assigning training for new hires and current employees. 

  • Assist with new hire notifications on campus  

  • Develop bimonthly personnel reports for Board of Trustees meetings. 

  • Collect new hire paperwork, conduct background checks (fingerprinting) and any other necessary forms.  

  • Assist with student employment hiring processes.  

  • Assist with ongoing training opportunities for all employees 

  • Attend job fairs and community events, when requested. 

Other HR Duties 

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. 

  • Use Argos to access and assemble employee data for a variety of reporting requirements.  

  • Respond to public records requests 

  • Respond to employment verification requests 

  • Respond to fee waiver requests from employees 

  • Utilize the “Let’s Go” system upon employment departures 

  • Provide general clerical support and customer service in support of Human Resources Department needs, including scanning files, filing, ordering supplies, greeting visitors, etc. 

  • Special projects and other duties, as assigned. 

  • Assist with invoice payments and set up new vendor requests in Clockshop.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

A. Education/Training and Experience 

  • Human Resources experience required, two years preferred. 

  • Recruitment experience preferred. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred. 

  • Experience working in higher education preferred. 

B. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills. 

  • Negotiation experience. 

  • Exceptional time-management, organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Proficiency to utilize technology and software applications independently and effectively, including Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing, HRIS systems; Banner preferred.   

Conditions of Employment 

  • This is a full-time, continuing staff (non-exempt) position at pay grade 7A of the staff salary schedule

  • College work hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on campus. Not eligible for remote work.
